Millionair Club Strategic Plan
BDS Planning & Urban Design facilitated a six-month strategic planning process for the Millionair Club Charity, a nonprofit that provides job opportunities to employment challenged men and women in the greater Seattle area who are experiencing unemployment and/or homelessness.
The process began in August 2014 and followed an aggressive schedule in order to deliver strategic plan elements for Board approval in January 2015. The Board initiated the strategic planning process with core values, and shaped inputs at a planning session. The Millionair Club Charity’s existing Program Committee functioned as the Steering Committee, moving through an operational assessment, issues and options, strategic directions, and final inputs for the strategic plan by January 2015.
Key accomplishments include:
A first ever vision statement and set of core values in the Millionair Club Charity’s 94-year history
A refreshed and concise mission statement
An updated organizational structure to clarify reporting and communication relationships between the Board of Trustees, its committees, and staff departments
A comprehensive Board development schedule and a thorough committee work plan to strengthen the Board’s governance role
A timeline to implement a comprehensive plan to enhance internal and external communications
Early action to initiate an update of its program policy on clients with felony backgrounds
Early action to define an optimal mix of revenue sources to ensure long-term financial sustainability
